Concerned about your young child’s behavior?

The Early Childhood Behavior Program (ECBP) at FIU’s Center for Children and Families provides therapeutic interventions to young children from birth to 7 years of age with developmental, social, emotional, and/or behavioral concerns. ECBP currently offers Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), an evidence-based treatment for early childhood behavior problems, such as aggression and defiance (www.pcit.org).

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT):

  • Focuses on the parent-child relationship in order to shape behavior through “coaching” parents during play
  • Has shown to increase socially desirable behaviors (e.g., compliance), and decrease disruptive behaviors (e.g., aggression), as well as increase self-esteem and feelings of safety and positive attachment to parents
  • Consists of an intake session followed by 12-20 weekly sessions
  • Sessions can be remote or in person

Pricing: Cost is determined on a sliding scale based on income, family size, and clinician’s credentials (approximately range from $50 to $100 per session – payment plans are available)
